A few months ago we were privileged to make the acquaintance of a Christian man, Johann, in Canada who heads a new ministry similar to Global Outreach Inc. They are partnering with Grace Orphanage which is located in Uvira, DRC, the same town as Congo for Christ Center. Together with Johann, we have been able to encourage Grace Orphanage and Congo for Christ Center to cooperate with each other. In fact, about thirty of the orphans at Grace are now attending Mango Tree School. In October, Johann and other team members from Canada, visited Grace Orphanage and also paid a visit to CCC and Mango Tree School.

Johann shared with us that one great need he noticed was the children did not have access to any books. He began to research to see what could be done and found a company that will ship a 40’ container to Congo which can then be turned into a library. He has also found a school in Canada that is willing to donate school books in French to fill about 1/3 of the container. As we indicated in the January newsletter we are excited about this rare opportunity to help fill the remainder of the container with articles that will be very useful for the children and church members at CCC as well as the orphans at Grace Orphanage.

You can help us gather useful supplies to send to Congo. You may wish to ask your church to participate as well. Used items in good condition are welcome as well as new items. Below is a list of items we are collecting. If you have other items not listed, please feel free to contact us by phone or email to discuss.

Clothing (Children and adults—warm weather—no sweaters or coats, no pants for girls or women, they especially like dress clothes, neckties, suits) Shoes (children and adults—no boots) Undergarments (children and adult) Bed sheets —particularly twin size Hygiene Products—soap, toothpaste, lotion, etc. Health Products—vitamins, painkiller, bandages Sunglasses Books—French and basic English School supplies—pens, pencils, paper Tools & Gardening—hoes, shovels, etc. Vegetable seeds Sports equipment—soccer balls, shoes, shin guards Musical instruments Computers—in working condition Generator—gas powered Other ideas? --contact us to discuss
In addition to items, cash contributions to purchase items, or to help with the $6,000 cost will also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your participation in this project.
